Goals to Make 2022 Your Most Creative Year

Fierce.

That was my word for 2021 and for most of this year, I felt anything but.

I had spent months applying for jobs because my husband had lost hours due to COVID. No one would hire me.

My business was going nowhere and I couldn’t figure out why. I almost walked away multiple times because I couldn’t stand the heartbreak anymore.

My husband and I felt broken. We were both under so much stress that there were moments when we hated each other.

Fierce.

That was my word for 2021 and I didn’t feel it until December.

2021 WAS THE YEAR OF CURVES

In June, I was finally hired by someone part-time. I love my job and I am still at it because it is wonderful to be able to leave my home and speak to adults.

In June, I was accepted into a small business program run by Momentum in Calgary. I met the most AMAZING entrepreneurs and it really helped me break my business down.

Goals to make 2022 your most creative year

In September, I was “reunited” with the man who started my passion for writing when he asked if I was interested in publishing a book through his publishing house. I said yes to my lifelong dream and by December 1st, it was live and became a best-seller on Amazon.

In December, I graduated from my small business program, was working full-time hours at my part-time job and my business took off. I signed 3 social media content clients and 2 blogging clients in one week.

December was the month that finally made it feel like all the struggles were worth it.

MY WORD FOR 2022

I have been trying to come up with my word of the year for a few weeks now. I have a list on my phone but nothing felt right.

The words that I have on my list are…

  • Imagine
  • Enough
  • Embrace
  • Allow
  • Connect
  • Emerge
  • Cultivate
  • Radiate
  • Bloom
  • Ignite
  • Deliberate
  • Why not
  • Live
  • Possibility

I love the words on this list but none of them felt like THE word that I was looking for. Christmas Eve was filled with baking. It is the day that we bake Christmas cookies and eat appetizers all day. As I was putting together our Christmas morning breakfast, a word popped into my head and it was and is the one that I am using for 2022.

More.

My word for 2022 is MORE. It represents so much to me.

More love.

More sex.

More road trips.

More money.

More time.

More memories.

More purpose.

More fun.

More play.

More moments.

More writing.

More.

More.

More.

2022 is the year that I step into more in every aspect of my life and I am so excited! Do you pick a word of the year? I would love to hear what yours is for 2022.

REVIEWING 2021 BEFORE SETTING NEW GOALS

I love setting goals. I have been a goal setter since before I can remember. I feel like it keeps me moving towards something. Goals keep me focused and aligned with what I truly want out of my life.

If you have followed me for a while, you know that I absolutely HATE the word resolutions. It makes it feel as if something is wrong with me. I no longer create resolutions. I create goals that are going to help take my life to the next level.

This year I am going to do something a bit differently. I am going to create 3-4 BIG goals that I will work towards throughout the year. This means that I can make my smaller monthly goals stepping stones for the big goals that I am working towards.

First, let’s talk about how we can create goals for 2022.

1| Review 2021. This is your opportunity to see what worked for you and what didn’t work for you and your business or blog in 2021. Look back month by month. Don’t review your past year to criticize what you accomplished or didn’t accomplish. Instead, look at 2021 with love and openness. Allow yourself to truly be open to what happened. This will help you to know what isn’t going to work going into 2022 and what may work going into 2022.

2| What was your highlight for 2021? Take time to celebrate it. I sometimes find that in the pursuit of my goals, I fail to celebrate the ones that I accomplish. So take a moment as you are reviewing your highlights, to celebrate the shit out of them. If you don’t celebrate them, no one else will.

3| What changed for you in 2021? Let’s face it, throughout the year, we change. Our goals can change. What we set for ourselves to achieve in January, may not be what we want in the middle or even end of the year. There is nothing wrong with that. Be honest with yourself about how you changed and what that means for you. Remember you do not need to be harsh with yourself. Every day we become a new person. Embrace that.

These past few years, there have been many things that we haven’t been able to control. At least that is how it feels to me. The pandemic and all of the restrictions that have been placed on us. Personally, I have stopped watching the coverage on COVID. I needed to do that for my mental well-being. I am now focusing on what I want to achieve more than the craziness in the world around me. Some may not agree with that but their opinion doesn’t matter. I needed to do what was and is best for me and so do you.

CREATING YOUR GOALS FOR 2022

Remember when I have talked about creating your blogging vision and using the 9 areas to do that? You can use this to help you create your goals for 2022 as well.

The 9 areas of your blogging vision to help you create goals for 2022.

What are the 9 areas of your blogging vision that I teach?

  • Education
  • Social
  • Monetization
  • Outreach
  • Growth
  • Schedule
  • Foundational
  • Desire
  • Mindset

How can you use these to help you create goals for 2022? You can create a goal for each section of this blogging vision if you want or you can focus on one per month. If you are looking for specific blogging goals that you can create, read my post that gives examples of blogging goals to set.

The post today is meant to help you create goals for 2022. When I create my goals for the new year, I make sure that they cover different aspects of my life. Business, personal, family, relationships, and health are the biggest ones that I want to focus on. Read one of my most viewed blog post in 2021 where I talk about my goals for this past year.

Here are the goals that I am working towards in 2022.

My BIG yearly goals are…

1| Finish my memoir. Now that I published my first book, I am ready to finish my memoir. It has been hard to write but I know that it needs to be done.

2| Make $15,000 in my business. This may seem like a small number to some but to me, this is a huge step in the right direction. I don’t set monthly income goals because I would rather put the focus on helping women reach their goals whether through blogging or their other creative content.

3| Save $3,000 in a separate savings account. The past couple of years have been hard and we haven’t been able to save money. Well, for the most part, we have never been able to save much money. It has been mainly my husband working since we became parents 14 years ago. Now that I have a part-time job and my business is starting to pick up, I want to start seriously saving money.

Now I am going to break up and create some smaller goals that fit in with the other categories that I mentioned above. These will help me create smaller monthly goals that will help me reach all of my goals in 2022.

BUSINESS GOALS FOR 2022

1| Sign 5 social media clients per month. I do not want tons of clients. I want to focus on a small number of clients so that I can give them the best service that I can. My business is meant to be personal and I can’t do that if I have too many clients.

2| Host my blog coaching programs 3 or 4 times a year and fill them up every time with 6 women per round. I love helping women start their blogs that they didn’t think were possible. It fills me up and I can’t wait to do more of it in 2022.

3| Create a Creative Summit for Small Businesses. I have so many ideas and I would love to see this come to life in 2022. I have never done anything like this before but it is going to be incredible.

BLOG GOALS FOR 2022

1| Get consistent again with posting two times per week. I have not been consistent with my blog for a few months now and I am ready to get back on track.

2| Get my blog views up to 10,000 a month. This is going to come with being consistent and allowing my voice and my brand to be authentic.

3| Guest blog post 2-3 times per month to start getting my name out there even more. I need to focus on getting in front of new audiences to help me build my brand.

PERSONAL GOALS FOR 2022

1| Create an office space that is just for me. Currently, I am sharing my office space with my 5-year-old which means there are constantly toys laying around. I want a space that is only for me and that will allow my creativity to be at its peak.

2| Get back to meditating every day. I haven’t meditated for almost 2 months. My body is craving it but I have been so busy with life that I haven’t allowed myself to do it.

3| Do 4 no-spend months this year. This will be a great way to start saving money and will help contribute to a few other goals that I am working towards. January will be my first no-spend month so fingers crossed it goes well.

FAMILY GOALS FOR 2022

1| Do a game night once a week. My kids are getting older and I want to spend more time with them. We love board games so it is time that we bring it back.

2| Show the kids how to meal plan, prep, and cook. We started this at the beginning of the year but we fell off of doing it once I took a part-time job. I want to get back into this because I want to make sure that my kids know how to cook before they leave the house.

3| Take random road trips. To me, this is one of the ways that I measure my success. I want to be able to say, “let’s jump in the car and go here today.” Just because we can.

RELATIONSHIP GOALS FOR 2O22

1| Spend one night a month with my closest friend. We deserve to spend more time with each other. We get so caught up in being moms, wives, and business owners that we rarely spend it with each other. This will take a bit of a workaround since neither one of us are vaccinated so we aren’t allowed most places but this we can figure out.

2| More date nights with hubby. As a Christmas gift, I meant to give him planned date nights. I have the date nights on my phone but forgot to create the gift itself. Did I tell you how busy I was leading up to Christmas?!?! If you have any fun date night ideas that we can do at home (because again, we are unvaccinated), please share them.

So far the date night ideas that I have are…

  • Drinks & appetizers
  • Charcuterie board
  • Paint night
  • Fancy dinner in
  • Late-night dessert
  • Boardgame night with a twist
  • Striptease videogame night
  • Couples massage

HEALTH GOALS FOR 2022

1| Move intentionally. I am not a fan of the cold weather and the past couple of weeks here have been filled with it. I mean, currently, the temp outside is -27 and with the windchill, it is -35. That is not my kind of weather. BUT once it gets nice out again, I want to start walking again.

I am also looking at purchasing a treadmill so that I can walk/run inside my house even when the weather is miserable.

2| Do yoga once a week with SUP & Flow yoga studio. I loved doing yoga at her small home studio so come January, I will be there once a week. If you want to join me, check out her website for her schedule.

3| Eat out once a month. I have gotten into the habit of eating out way too much. I need to cut way back. That will help once I do the no spend months.

4| Cut back on soda. If you know me, you know that I love Dr. Pepper. It is my weakness but I know that I need to cut back on it. So if you see me around Calgary being miserable, know this is the reason. BAHAHAHA

I would love to hear what your goals are.
