Different Niche Ideas You Can Blog In

I LOVE talking about niches.

I LOVE helping people figure out their niche.

I LOVE breaking down the overwhelming idea of choosing a niche.

If you couldn’t tell, we are going to talk niches today!!!

There is nothing better than taking someone’s expertise, experiences, and passions and turning them into a niche that is unique to them.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I don’t believe that you need to stick with one niche. I think there is a way to combine niches that will work for you. It may take you a little bit longer to build an audience or you may even have different audiences coming to you but there is a way to do it. This blog post is not about that though.

WHAT IS A NICHE ANYWAY?

Are you like,

Yeah, this sounds fantastic but I have no idea what a niche is.

Well, I want you to think of your niche as your overall topic of what you are talking about. For example, your niche could be food. You are blogging about food and the specific categories and content pillars that you are talking about, all fall under food.

Your niche is going to be a combination of your expertise, experiences, and passions all combined into only a way that you could talk and teach about them. I break down how you can choose your niche more in my blog post, Five Lists To Help You Narrow Down Your Blogging Niche.

Knowing your niche is going to help you to create your blogging content pillars. Your content pillars are what help to guide what all of your content is about. It keeps you focused and helps you to give your audience the content that they are searching for. Tips to help you choose your content pillars.

I also believe that your niche can change over time. When I first started blogging in 2014, I NEVER thought that I would be blogging about blogging. I was focused on sharing my story and did that through blogging in the mental health niche.

As I continued to blog, the knowledge that I gained slowly led me to start teaching others to also share their stories. I didn’t give up on mental health blogging because that is still a HUGE part of who I am.

For a long time, I thought that I couldn’t be both. That one had to be separate from the other and so that is what I did. It felt like part of me was missing. This is what I talk about when combining and creating a unique niche to stand out in. I blog in both niches. Sometimes they are combined because I truly can’t have one without the other when it comes to my experiences and my passion.

WHY CHOOSE A NICHE?

Like I said earlier, having a niche is going to give your blog direction and a focus. There are more open niches like food or lifestyle where you can cover a bit more but even these niches are going to give you a blogging focus.

Having a niche means that you can easily communicate with your audience.

Communicate what they want to learn

Communicate your expertise.

Communicate your teachable experiences.

Remember to choose a niche that you are passionate about. If you are in finance but HATE writing or talking about finance then choose another niche. Your audience will know when you don’t enjoy what you are talking about and you will quickly lose your readers.

If you want to start blogging without a niche then start blogging without a niche. Don’t hold yourself back because you don’t have everything figured out yet. You can decide and refine as you go. Don’t let not knowing your niche be your excuse for not even starting.

Now let’s dive into a HUGE list of different niches that you can blog in.
