Benefits of Hiring Help For Your Content

6 May 2022

This week I started a new program that I was accepted into called Peerpreneur through Business Link. A program may not be the right word to describe this but I am super excited to be a part of this. Peerpreneur is all about bringing entrepreneurs together for weekly meetings and just discussing how things are going. We talk about what we are struggling with, questions that we may have, and so much more.

There are eight of us in our group and we all come from such diverse backgrounds which are so awesome. I do think that I am the youngest in the group and it was incredible to hear how long all of these incredible entrepreneurs have been in business or even that they are newly starting and thinking that their age is a barrier.

The one common thing that I heard as we were talking was about social media.

How they didn’t know how to use it for their business.

How their business has no social media presence.

How they don’t know how to show up on social media.

In all of this, there was some good discussion on how you can begin and how you can start adding it in as a business owner because YOU NEED TO HAVE A SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE!!!

There was also a lot of talk that they just didn’t want to hire someone to do their social media content for them. This is what we are going to cover today because sometimes, you NEED to hire help for your creative content so that you can keep focusing on the parts of your business that you do love.

Knowing When To Hire For Your Business

Before we dive into the benefits, let’s talk about how to know when you are ready to hire for your business and things that you need to know before you do.

The opportunities are endless when it comes to hiring someone to help with your creative content. Whether you need help with blogging, social media content creation, or any other type of content, the options are everywhere. How do you know that you are ready?

YOU ARE AVOIDING DOING THE WORK

Do you avoid posting to social media?

Do you still not have a social media presence for your business?

Do you post and run on all of your social media platforms?

Do you get stressed out just thinking of the content that you need to create?

By avoiding the work, you are putting your business on hold. No one wants to do that!

YOU HATE POSTING TO SOCIAL MEDIA

As entrepreneurs, we think we need to do it all. We are hell-bent on getting it done and learning how to do it because we know that it is something we can figure out. Of course, you can figure it out but why would you waste your precious time on doing something that you hate.

This comment came in from one of the other blog posts that I wrote on Empoword Blogging.

Thank you for sharing this. I really enjoyed reading your journey and this sentence, in particular, hit me hard “there isn’t time in life to do things that don’t consume you with joy.” This is something my husband and I have talked about frequently and we are trying to weed out the things that don’t bring us joy to free up time for what does. Stop doing things that don’t bring you joy. Hire someone who loves to do it!

YOU JUST DON’T HAVE THE TIME

As an entrepreneur, our days are filled to the brink with everything that needs to be done for our business. If you are struggling to find the time to have a social media presence then it is time to get help.

Free up your time by getting someone to help you take your business to the next level.

Now let’s talk about what you need to think about before you start the hiring process. Like I said above, the choices are endless when it comes to hiring someone to help you build up your creative content. That doesn’t mean that it has to feel overwhelming.

KNOW WHAT YOUR GOALS ARE

What goals do you want for your creative content that they are helping you with?

Is it to build brand awareness?

Is it to build brand authority?

Is it to showcase your products?

You can have a combination of all of these of course but get crystal clear on what your goals are for each platform that you are getting help with.

KNOW WHAT YOU NEED HELP WITH

When I had my first meeting with my newest client, I remember her saying, “Throughout the interview process, I have realized that I am looking for someone to create the content and not just post it.”

Getting clear on what you actually need help with is going to make all the difference.

Do you need help with just creating graphics for social media?

Do you need help with graphic creation as well as the written content?

Do you need help with blogging content?

Do you need help with emails or website copy?

By knowing what you need help with, you can focus your search for the perfect person.

KNOW WHAT YOUR BUDGET IS

We all have different budgets. This will affect who you can and will hire. Be honest with yourself about what you can afford.

Also, please don’t try to negotiate with a service provider. They have set their prices. You can always ask if they create individualized packages that would fit within your budget. It is hard enough to run a business without every potential client asking for a discount.

KNOW HOW MUCH TIME YOU WILL HAVE TO HELP WITH CONTENT

What do I mean by this?

When you hire someone to help you with your creative content, they may need your help from time to time with questions that arise. Whether that is with video or personal photos. Make sure that you are clear on how often they can get ahold of you to get this information.

For example, my newest client is super busy with everything else in their business. I now send them a Google Form that has the questions that I need to be answered for the content for the month. This means that they can fill that form out once and it covers me for the monthly content that I am creating.

Not every piece of content requires their attention. I also create the graphics and put them on a Trello board for them to see the graphics that I created.

Some of you want to be completely hands-off and others will want to have a say. Know which one you are and that your style is going to match the working style of the person that you hire.

Now let’s dive into the benefits of hiring help for your creative content.

BENEFITS OF HIRING HELP FOR YOUR CREATIVE CONTENT

Let’s dive right in and share a few of the benefits of hiring help.

CONSISTENCY ON SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS

Consistency shows your audience that you are an active business. I can’t tell you how often I have come across a business that I want to learn more about (mainly on Facebook) and I go to check out their page and there has been zero activity on it for months. It makes me wonder if they are even open anymore.

Consistency is the key to building up your brand authority and getting new customers to trust your business. Brand recognition is going to come with consistency.

SAVES YOUR MENTAL ENERGY

Honestly, this is probably one of the biggest benefits of hiring help for your content. The energy drain that happens when you do something that you dislike can last for hours and sometimes even days.

Once you get stuck in this energy suck, it can be hard to break and that is when avoidance comes into play. Hiring someone to do this for you means that you can use your mental energy for things that you love to do.

MORE TIME TO WORK ON THINGS YOU ACTUALLY ENJOY DOING

You didn’t start your business to do things that you hate. Yes, you should know how to run your social media, your blog, and your website but I don’t think that you need to do it all.

We get stuck thinking that we need to do it all because it is our business. When you hire someone, you need to make sure that they align with what you want to achieve and know how to use your brand voice in your content.

THEY ARE THE EXPERT

You are an expert in what you do and a content creator is going to be an expert in creating content for your business. We aren’t meant to know everything so hire someone who has a business of knowing.

YOU ARE PAYING FOR ONLY THE SERVICES THAT YOU NEED HELP WITH

When you hire someone to help with your content, they are there for only that reason. They are dedicated to the success of your business and to helping you grow.

YOU GET A NEW PERSPECTIVE ON YOUR BUSINESS

This topic has been coming up a lot lately and I love talking about it. It is one of my superpowers (or so I have been told).

We get so caught up in the work that we do that we don’t even realize how much we know. So we struggle to come up with content to share because we are stuck overthinking everything.

When we bring in a new perspective to help build our business, we can begin to see what we do from someone else.

They will ask questions.

They will be able to see your passions.

They will be able to bring up topics that you may not even realize that you haven’t spoken about before.

HAVING A TEAM THAT YOU CAN BOUNCE IDEAS OFF OF

Being an entrepreneur can be incredibly lonely at times. Having someone that helps you with your creative content means that you can bounce ideas off of them.

I love being this person for businesses.

You are building a relationship with someone that wants to see your business succeed as much as you do. Sometimes we just need someone to be that extra little voice that says yes to an idea that we have. The person helping you create your creative content is an excellent choice.

It can be scary to hire someone for your business. You don’t want to lose your brand voice or feel like your content is no longer yours. Interviewing different candidates and hiring someone that can help build your business within your vision will help.

If you are in the search of hiring someone to help you with your content, I have many different packages to help you and I can even create a customized package for your needs. Let’s chat and see how I can help you to build your brand through your creative content.
